The #NoShame Project

I've lost track of the number of times that I've been challenged for sharing breastfeeding pictures online, or the number of occasions that I've read about moms who have been shamed for feeding their children at their breast.

It's 2016 and stories of moms being shamed for breastfeeding hit headlines regularly - it appears that our children's nutrition is newsworthy...albeit not in the healthy and informative way we may wish for.

A while ago, I started the #ISupportBreastfeeding project in an effort to turn the social stigma of breastfeeding on its head.  The project focused on support without caveats...on acceptance without shame...and it captured the hearts of thousands of nursing moms.

Together, our voices of unwavering support were heard.

Today, with a few too many instances of front-page breastfeeding scandals to recount, I feel that it's time to launch a new project:  the #NoShame project.

This campaign will run over the next four weeks and will serve as a reminder of the importance of support and the necessity of factual information.  This project aims to empower and unite - to encourage and celebrate - in an age where we are too often shamed for feeding our children in the way that nature intended.

I choose support above shame.

I choose information above ignorance.

I choose my baby's needs above your opinion.

If you would like to show your support for the #NoShame project, you can post (or message) your favourite nursing picture to the Mama Bean Facebook page, using the #NoShame hashtag.

I am honoured to be collaborating with my sweet friend Paulina, from Paulina Splechta Photography and also, the super-talented Paula, from Lasting Expression Photography throughout this project.  I'm also teaming up with Lansinoh to ensure that this campaign offers factual and practical information, in addition to offering empowering images, of course!
